The new faces

It’s less than three weeks until An Undercover Dream is released, and in this week’s blog I’m giving you an introduction to the new characters you’ll shortly be getting to know. The characters in this book are some of my favourite people and Luke certainly forms strong bonds with them. If you want to get familiar with the characters from Atlantic Split and At Liberty To Live then read my previous character blogs here:

At Liberty To Live Characters

In An Undercover Dream there are five major new characters and below is some more information about them (spoilers below.)

LARRY RAWLINGS:

We met Larry at the very end of At Liberty To Live, and whilst his contribution to the book was very short, he made enough of an impact that Luke headed over to Washington DC with him. Larry lives under a false identity, carrying out fraudulent work to make others’ lives easier and agrees to help Luke out whilst on the run. After realising the two have a lot in common, Larry becomes a father figure to Luke and the two strike up a special bond. However, for two criminals on the run, life is never straightforward and it’s not long before one of them is forced into hiding.

VIOLET SMITH:

Violet, who prefers to be known as Vi, is an acting student from a rich family. As soon as Luke meets her, he realises they have something very significant in common. The two connect straight away, but the electric sparks that fly between them are overshadowed by her boyfriend Reebok Riley and Reebok’s rival – Connor Stanton who is also after Vi’s affections. A strong, feisty female with a big heart to match her big dreams, Vi isn’t afraid to stand up for the people and causes she cares about. When it comes to herself, however, she could definitely do with being a bit less selfless.

CAROL LEWIS:

Carol is a beautiful Hollywood actress in her thirties – and a very famous one at that. She takes an instant shine to Luke, despite the age gap, and sees his potential as an actor. However, her vain and self-obsessed attitude doesn’t appeal to him, but that doesn’t stop her pursuing him. Carol is used to getting what she wants and people doing what she wants, and Luke soon realises it’s very hard to say no to someone like that. However, she has a secret, a huge secret that proves devastating for Luke and his friends. Will he be able to uncover it before it’s too late?

REEBOK RILEY:

Reebok – named after the shoe brand which moved to the USA just before the war began. A troubled young man with a brazen attitude who got caught up with the wrong crowd in a bid to find friends. Other than Vi, Reebok has very few allies, but Luke sees himself in Reebok and the two become good friends. However, being stuck in the middle of both Reebok and Vi and Reebok and Connor proves a challenge. It’s a good thing Luke’s mature enough to become the peacemaker.

CONNOR STANTON:

Connor Stanton, the son of a famous baseball player who doesn’t understand his son’s love of acting. Connor’s frustration at his home life and the fact his rival Reebok is now in a relationship with Vi, his only real friend, has caused him to act out. Despite that, Connor and Luke become close friends and the two have a lot in common. Just not as much as Reebok and Connor have in common – not that either one of them are willing see that.

I hope you enjoy reading An Undercover Dream and find these characters interesting, relatable and also realistic. That’s how I’ve aimed to write them and without them, the book series wouldn’t be what it is today!
