A Writer’s Resolutions

With every new year comes resolutions. One of mine, back in 2013, was to start sending what is now Atlantic Split off to publishers and agents to see if I could get a book deal. Five years later, I set the resolution to self-publish it that same year and now, two books later, I’m going into 2019 having done what I wanted. It feels amazing.

In this week’s blog, I feel it’s only fitting to discuss what the new year holds and what resolutions I’m going to be trying to keep in terms of writing. Let’s see if I’m as successful as last year!

First things first, I’m setting a target to self-publish book 3 in my series. I’m hoping it’ll be this summer but it’s a hefty novel (even compared to the last two!) so it may take a bit more time! So watch this space because I’m hoping in the next couple of months to have my official reveal.

I also have another book series that I’ve been meaning to work on. Hopefully this will be the year these books get into shape. These are ideas I’ve had for years for books, but never managed to work out how to do them. So, I’m going to aim to make a start on getting these two into shape. Read more about the first here.

Finally, I want to make sure the messages in my books get heard and understood by more people. In book 3 especially there are some very significant take outs that’ll be relatable to a lot of people. That means sharing these important messages and themes throughout my blogs, aiming to do more talks about the importance of the morals in these books, and trying to reach more of my target audience. After all, it’s the reason I write — so these messages can be spread. That’s a big challenge for 2019. I just hope the reality of 2019 doesn’t mirror my books too much!

Many indie authors say it’s the third book where things really hit off, so fingers crossed it’ll be the same here. However, there’s still plenty up my sleeve and I’m just going to keep on writing. That’s the real resolution. To just keep writing and not let the ideas run dry or lose their purpose. Let’s see how it goes.
