1st of the Month Blog – April 2018

Happy Easter and happy April Fool’s day too! I can’t believe we’re already into April and it’s been three whole months since I begun my journey as a self published author. As promised, on the 1st of every month, I will do a special blog about how my writing life is going so far and what I hope will happen in the month ahead.

Firstly, I’d like to share some statistics for March. I won’t share my book sales numbers, but let’s just say, it’s been a success so far, and I’m extremely thankful to everyone who has helped me get this far and bought a copy.

As of 9:00am GMT today:

March involved a lot of promotion for Atlantic Split and I’m happy to say that I’ll be visiting my old school in the summer to speak about my journey as an author and appearing in my local newspaper as well to talk about my book. Promotion continued until the 19th of March (one month after launch) and then I changed my social media schedule – meaning I’d be posting less, but only so that I had more time to work on the second book of the series. I’ll admit that it’s a book that’s always (and very nearly) bested me, but now I think it’s finally exactly where it needs to be and I’m hoping to launch it later in the year. Watch this space!

So, what am I hoping for April? Well, my cover designer will begin working on covers for the the next three books in the series, and I’ll be editing and re-reading the second book, getting it ready for publication. Promotion will continue and I hope that as more people finish reading Atlantic Split, more reviews will start appearing and word will spread around. It’s so important, not only for me, but for readers to leave a review if you haven’t done so already because it creates awareness and helps the self-publishing platforms notice the book. It doesn’t have to be long, but just a couple of words or even the rating alone is enough.

Finally, with each 1st of the month blog, I’m going to share a photo of a setting in one of my books and explain a little about it, without spoilers of course.

prisoncellThis is what the cell corridor in the Kensington Police Station where Luke Bright works looks like in this alternate reality – possibly it would be a little more modern in the books, but still a decrepit corridor. It’s a dark, dingy place and Luke finds himself going down this corridor several times (before and after being a police officer) which he refers to as ‘The Underworld.’ Lined with around twenty cells, this is where criminals are held in police custody and is where Luke has to take James and Steve. However, they’re not the only ones who end up in one of these cells.

Atlantic Split is the first book in The Luke Bright Series and is available to purchase NOW! Please follow me on my blog and my social media links below and use the links on my website to purchase a copy if you have not done so. Don’t forget to leave a review! Thank you once again for taking the time to read this blog post.

N.A.K.
