The support I have received over the last few days has been completely overwhelming, thank you so much to everyone who has liked, followed and messaged, it is very much appreciated. In return, I should explain exactly what it is I’m doing. I’m going to self-publish my first book ‘Atlantic Split’ early this year, but how exactly will that happen?
There’s two main ways to get a book published – either you do it the traditional way with literary agents representing you and your book to publishing companies, or you can take matters into your own hands and do it yourself. The whole thing. Writing the book, organising a cover, editing, formatting, and selling. Whilst it is generally seen as reputable to be able to secure a book deal the traditional way, I personally find the self-publishing route very interesting. After all, you’re not just an author anymore. You are running your own little business and you are solely responsible for your own success. Scary? Yes. Stressful? Yes. Worth it? I certainly hope so.
Seeing your creation develop through each stage of the process, knowing that you have full control is both exciting and rewarding. Of course, you can’t do it alone and it doesn’t come free. You’ll need help from designers and editors, a lot of these you can find on Reedsy – a great site for finding all sorts of freelancers to help you with getting your book ready for reasonable prices. Putting money into achieving your dreams is a huge, worthwhile investment for the future.
Seeing your book take shape to resemble those books on the shelves in libraries and bookshops, or seeing it formatted beautifully on your e-book reader is an extremely satisfying feeling. Especially knowing that you did it all by yourself. Some very successful modern day self-published authors include E.L. James – author of The Fifty Shades trilogy, Hugh Howey – author of Wool and Andy Weir – author of The Martian.
I am looking to publish my book ‘Atlantic Split’ which is the first book in ‘The Luke Bright Series’ early this year. I’ll be using the publishing platforms Amazon, iBooks, Google Play, Barnes & Noble and Kobo for my e-book, and I will also be using Amazon for my paperbacks. I have sent off an order for some draft paperbacks to review which will be very exciting to receive. Keep following my blog using the link on this page and I’ll keep you updated on my progress.
Thanks!
N.A.K.

I can’t wait 😀
