The saddest part about publishing the last part of a book series is saying goodbye to the characters. Letting them go and live their lives their way instead of following the plans that I have for them (even though most of them make their own plans anyway.) And it’s the same with this bunch of amazing characters that have carried this series. Each one of them has made a huge impact on me, and represents a really important demographic and message within the book. Of course, in The Snowflake Trap it was really focused on the main three, The Snowflake Army brought in more supporting characters, but now in The Snowflake War, they all get their moment to shine. I can’t wait to show you what happens to them all.

For now, here’s a little bit more about where they’re all at following the events of The Snowflake Army. Warning: Spoilers ahead.

Shawn Parker

Shawn is a shy, awkward, smart guy and yesterday, he finally got the chance to follow his dreams of becoming a singer. He was so close, but then in the final location of Gransbrook, he was subjected to a trap that caused him severe pain every time he tried to speak. Being unable to talk or sing has heightened Shawn’s depression and anxiety ten-fold and he’s really struggling. He’s on a downward spiral and his friends can’t do anything about it. Will anyone be able to get through to him before he does something he regrets?

Leah Carlton

Leah’s a kind, protective, slightly cynical and sassy woman who’s always been held back because she’s black. Following Saturday’s horrific events where her brother sided with the MTM and she was forced to kill him, Leah’s struggling to come to terms with her place in the world and her family. Plus, she’s trying to look after Shawn, despite him pushing her away. As more secrets come to light throughout the day, Leah’s forced to rethink everything that’s been happening recently. Will she be able to come to terms with what happened?

Max Ward

AKA. Millennial Max which is his influencer name. Max is a typical woke millennial who dreams of making a difference to the world. Now he is, by leading his generation against the MTM. He’s always been overly positive but the last few days have really made him grow up and become more like the leader he wants to be. However, nothing can prepare him for what awaits him in Wacherton. He meets a group of people who turn his world upside down and everything changes for him in an instant. Is Max about to finally get everything he’s ever wanted?

Odd Sock (Os for short)

Os is a famous indie singer and Shawn’s long-time idol. They came out as pansexual and non-binary a few years back and also stopped hiding their Polish ethnicity too. Despite the instant chemistry between them and Shawn, Os has suggested they take things slow and is more focused on looking after him instead – something Leah isn’t too happy about. But why is Os so convinced they can get through to Shawn when no one else can?

Zara Dhillon

A feisty, spirited millennial who discovered her parents were MTM leaders in their village. She’s a natural born leader, but is struggling to be seen as equal to Max due to her race, gender and sexuality – on top of being the daughter of MTM leaders. She’s determined to prove herself as worthy, but will the snowflakes ever take her seriously? And as they get closer to discovering the truth about the MTM’s plans, will her past finally catch up with her?

Katarzyna (Kasia) Petrowski

Kasia is sweet-natured, kind and extremely clever. She’s a language teacher, but her real specialism is chemistry. She and Odd Sock moved away from Poland many years earlier, and though Odd Sock has thrived in life, Kasia has always been held back. But it isn’t just society that’s limiting her potential, she’s feeling guilty about something too. What is Kasia hiding from the group, and will she ever be able to move on from what happened in Poland?

Ben Carlton

Ben is Leah’s younger brother and is a rebellious, smart and savvy young guy. He’s currently looking after his family after the fallout of Saturday, and is struggling to hold everyone together. However, new revelations are about to come to light that will make that even harder. How will Ben cope when he finds out the real reason his brother went rogue? Will their family ever be the same again?

Emma Rogers

AKA VeganQueen98 (her influencer name). Emma was Max’s top follower on his influencer account and came along with the trio yesterday. However, they soon found out she was interested in Shawn not Max, and was also leading a Gen Z army against them. She’s feeling guilty today after what happened to Shawn and wants to put things right. But just what is she planning and who’s side is she really on?

A lot goes on in The Snowflake War and with so many amazing characters and intense revelations on the way, it’s by no means short on drama. It’s not long to go now, so you’ll get to find out what’s happening yourself very shortly.
