Warning: This blog contains mild spoilers.
Hi readers! Hopefully you’ve all seen the exciting news I shared earlier in the week – The Snowflake War will be released on 16th September 2024! You can pre order it HERE!
It’s been a busy few months, but now we’re in the final run up, so in these upcoming blogs I’m going to be sharing more about the book before you get to read it yourself. And the first of these blogs is about the main setting of The Snowflake War – the city of Wacherton.
First, you might want to know how to pronounce it. It’s (Wuh-cher-tun). Wacherton is a town around half an hour away from Leasford which has been mentioned and featured in both The Snowflake Trap and The Snowflake Army. However, at the end of the latter, the trio realise that Wacherton is where the MTM are based, and where they’ll be holding the final part of the plan to eradicate every millennial in the country.
As you may have read in a previous blog, Wacherton is loosely based on the city of Bath. I was actually down there when I started planning this book series, so I took a lot of inspiration of various areas when I was creating this city. If you live in England, you’ll know a city like this, potentially close to a small town like Leasford. A place that has fancy buildings, tower blocks, a university, hustle and bustle and a real sense of liveliness. For the trio, it’s like a second home and they used to go up there a lot for work, shopping, socialising etc. To find out that it’s going to be the centre of a war is something none of them could’ve anticipated. But now, this beautiful, busy place is going to be a battleground for them and the MTM.
It’s a fantastic setting and being able to tell this story in such an ordinary yet familiar kind of place just brings this whole thing a lot closer to home. Especially considering what England has been through these past few weeks, it’s clear that wars can break out anywhere. Even somewhere like a typical English city that looks completely normal from the outside.
In The Snowflake War, the group have to figure out exactly what the MTM’s plan is, where in the city they’re based and how they’re going to stop them. They’re going to have to search the whole city for the answer, so get ready for some exploring, because it’s going to be a race against time with lots of drama and antics along the way.
Next week, I’ll share a bit more about the lead characters and what they’re facing in this book. So until then!
