2021 – another really strange year. We started getting ourselves back to some sort of normal, only to be put back into lockdowns and are still finding our way out of them. It’s been strange and I really hope next year will be better and different in many ways.

For me, it’s certainly been a busy year and fruitful. It was the year I planned to publish The Signs Are Coming and I couldn’t have imagined the success that came from it, especially on TikTok. The first time I posted that first page of the book and interest sky rocketted. If only I’d published then because even though TikTok has been a great tool in promotion, I’ve learnt a huge amount about what to do and what not to do as well!

In September, I finally published and the five star reviews that came in have been pretty special and exciting to read. It was a strange feeling though, letting go of a book that had such an impact on my adulthood, one that took so much time to write and with such memorable characters, but it felt right giving it to the world and letting them share my world too. I’m glad I got to publish this year for certain.

I also learnt a lot about myself, reading back The Luke Bright Series and discovered how much I’ve grown as a person since I wrote those books, even if I only just finished publishing them last year. It was a weird feeling that made me feel quite empty and unsure of myself for a while, but it did also push me to realise what I did want to be writing about, and that brings me onto what’s coming next.

So, I’ve got something really special planned. Something really exciting and new and interesting and I really hope you love it and love these new characters as much as I do. I know, I say it with every book, but I really do think this book series is going to be so pivotal, so significant and it’ll resonate with so many. Why? Because it’s happening right here and now and it’s perfect timing considering what’s happening in the world.

I’ll be doing a lot of promotion for it in the next year, but slowly, I’m still trying to get it all right and there’s lots of work to do, but I’m really excited to see where it all goes and how everyone reacts to it. Especially people on TikTok! It might not fare as well there!

All in all, it’s been a really great year. It’s been exciting, eyeopening and humbling too. I’m glad to be able to keep writing and working on the things I love, even if I am a little unsure about what’s coming next. Either way, you’ll know about it as soon as I figure it out!

So, to everyone reading, a really happy and healthy new year. Let’s see what 2022 brings and I really hope it’ll be a year we start moving forward, rather than regressing backwards, in all senses of our lives.
