The most important part of any character is their personality. Not just the things that are obvious, but the things they leave out. The things they want to hide, but the things that shine through regardless. How they react in unexpected situations, how they interact with other characters and, when they’re pushed to their limits, what is it they reveal?
So I decided that, now that we’re about to head from Atlantic Split to At Liberty To Live I’m going to put Luke through the Proust test. If you haven’t heard about it before, it’s a questionnaire that French writer Michael Proust created it to delve into the deepest part of an individual’s personality. I’m going to redo this every time another book ends because Luke’s story is one of growth and change. So, now it’s over to you Luke…
WARNING – THIS BLOG CONTAINS SPOILERS FROM ATLANTIC SPLIT
1. What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Being with my family, having them support and understand what I’m doing and being able to live in a world where I can still see these new friends of mine and not have to go on the run. A nice girlfriend wouldn’t go amiss! And food.
2. What is your greatest fear?
Never seeing my family again, or something happening to me or them now I’m on the run.
3. What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?
My temper – need to get that under control.
4. What is the trait you most deplore in others?
Prejudice

It used to be my mum, but now hearing what happened to him, I think it’s Steve.
6. What is your greatest extravagance?
Probably food!

I don’t like how young I look and this boring hairstyle
11. Which living person do you most despise?
I can think of one…
12. What is the quality you most like in a man?
I think the ability to show emotion. Not be this hard shell you can’t crack. Someone approachable.
13. What is the quality you most like in a woman?
Haha…other than the obvious, probably just a genuine kindness. Haven’t met many with that yet though, if they’d even talk to me in the first place.
14. Which words or phrases do you most overuse?
I use the S word quite a bit…except around my parents of course!
15. What or who is the greatest love of your life?
Once upon a time that was Chrissie. It obviously wasn’t her, so hopefully I can meet that person one day.

Talking to women without messing up my words!

19. What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Stopping James and Steve from being killed by Wicks.
20. If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing, what would it be?

Just having friends is enough! But just being understanding is something I value most in these guys.

Atticus Finch (again from Mockingbird.)
