Two consecutive books with many similarities and even more differences. In this blog I delve in what you can expect from book two of The Luke Bright Series and how it compares to the first.
First, I’ll start with the obvious. At Liberty To Live has the same main characters, it’s set in the same universe whereby the world has been shaped by the Atlantic Split and the story of At Liberty to Live picks up where Atlantic Split left off.
However, At Liberty To Live has a different plot Atlantic Split with different stakes, different settings and plenty more new characters, some of whom will become firm favourites as soon as you read about them. However, these characters, whilst being entirely different people, do share some similarities with those we have met before in Atlantic Split – not always the characters whom you expect either.
The pacing of At Liberty To Live is very different to Atlantic Split though there are still huge action scenes, heartfelt emotional moments and pivotal scenes of self-discovery. However, there’s a brand new theme in At Liberty To Live, which makes up a big part of the plot. There’s still crime and mystery, but it’s a very different life for Luke compared to where he came from initially.
The motivations and themes are similar, and though Atlantic Split was a story about Luke coming of age, At Liberty To Live continues that story and we’ll find out more new information about him throughout. There’s more to find out about James and Steve too, and both get some amazing, powerful moments. It’s a very different set of scenarios the trio find them in, but yet, their dynamic from the end of Atlantic Split remains the same.
Both books are unique but the greatest similarity and difference between them is the strength of the characters and the story they tell. Both have important morals, and whilst Atlantic Split acts as a great starter, At Liberty To Live is a fitting sequel and I’m so excited to be able to release it in Autumn. I hope you enjoy it just as much as you enjoyed the first one.
