1st of the Month Blog – March 2018

March, my favourite month of the year has begun. Also, to those who are not aware, it’s World Book Day today! So, make sure you take some time out to acknowledge the importance of books and reading, because without them, I certainly know my life would be immensely different and am extremely grateful for what my favourite authors and stories have done for me.

I cannot believe how fast February and even January went and now spring is dawning. It’s been a whirlwind of a February and, as promised, on the 1st of every month, I will do a special blog about how my writing life is going so far and what I hope will happen in the month ahead.

Firstly, I’d like to share some statistics for February as of 9am GMT. I won’t share my book sales numbers, but let’s just say, it’s been a success so far, and I’m extremely thankful to everyone who has helped me get this far and bought a copy.

February was a month for the final bits of editing and proofreading and sorting out where I would choose to publish Atlantic Split. It was a month to fill out documentation, go through everything with a fine tooth-comb and, as you can see from my social media channels, promote as often as I could! On 19th February I eventually published Atlantic Split and it was an absolutely amazing feeling. Knowing that I could just pop onto the internet and see the book that I’d been working on for over ten years available around the world. It was a real life product and I’d fulfilled my dream before my next birthday which is Monday 5th March. I’d made my own dream come true. I’d become a published author.

So, what am I hoping for March? Other than my birthday, I’ll continue promotion and aim to get local libraries, schools and papers involved in promotion for Atlantic Split, and hope that as more people read the book, the reviews will come flooding in to encourage other readers to pick up a copy. I’ve already begun reading and starting to edit the next three books in The Luke Bright Series, so hopefully later in the year a new cover and set of branding will be on it’s way when the second book is ready to publish.

Finally, with each 1st of the month blog, I’m going to share a photo of a setting in one of my books and explain a little about it, without spoilers of course.

This is an absolutely majestic photo of the grand Tower Bridge in London at night – you’ll notice that it’s been raised. This photo represents a key scene in Atlantic Split and signifies the importance of research. Some of the scenes in Atlantic Split needed thorough fact-checking to be done before I could write them, because even though it is set in an alternate reality, it is a reality that is very similar to our own. As much as making your own rules is fun and enjoyable, you can’t make things unrealistic – and I’m sure that if anyone saw the internet history that I have used for my book series, they’d be quite confused!

Atlantic Split is the first book in The Luke Bright Series and is available to purchase NOW! Please follow me on my blog and my social media links below and use the links on my website to purchase a copy if you have not done so. Don’t forget to leave a review! Thank you once again for taking the time to read this blog post.

N.A.K.
