1st of the Month Blog – February 2018

Dear Readers,

One month ago today, I launched my website and social media platforms and officially revealed my plans to self publish my first novel ‘Atlantic Split.’ I’ve hence decided that on the 1st of every month, I will do a special blog about how things are going so far and what I hope will happen in the month ahead.

Firstly, I’d like to share some statistics (as of 1:00pm GMT) which considering I started a month ago with zero, I’m extremely thankful and grateful to everyone who’s helped me get this far:

  • Website: 399 views, 149 visitors and 5 followers
  • Facebook: 160 likes
  • Twitter: 530 followers
  • Instagram: 95 followers

The last month has really been a proofreading and editing month. I received the first paperback proof copies of Atlantic Split a few weeks ago and have been going through them before publication to make sure they’re ready. It’s looking good so far. I’ll be ordering the final copies before launch within the next couple of weeks, and that will be the final stage before it goes to publication.

So, what am I hoping for February? Well, hopefully I will be launching my book, as I’m working against a personal deadline. I’d like to publish my book before I reach my next birthday, which is at the start of March. Not far now!

There’s still a lot to do, but I having a structure is a great tool for me, even if it’s making the weeks go extremely quickly. I know that once the book is launched things will get even busier, so for now I’m just going to aim to work as hard as possible to get the book ready for publication.

Finally, with each 1st of the month blog, I’m going to share a photo of a setting in one of my books and explain a little about it, without spoilers of course.

The photo above is an example of a house in South Kensington, London where Luke Bright and his family live in. South Kensington is a very affluent area of London, and though Luke’s family aren’t rich, I wanted to show that Luke came from a sheltered background. Living here meant he was isolated from many people his own age and had quite a lonely upbringing.

Atlantic Split is the first book in The Luke Bright Series and will be available to purchase in early 2018. Please follow me on my blog and my social media links below for more updates on when the book will be released and where you can purchase a copy. Thank you once again for taking the time to read this blog post.

N.A.K.
